- ASSIGN.SYS WRITER Version 1.3
- by
- D.W.Binnion (D-W-B)
-
- Almost nine months ago while putting together yet another ASSIGN.SYS
- file for DEGAS ELITE, I realized I'd bought a computer to take care of
- mundane tasks. Stupid me - for months I'd been writing ASSIGN.SYS files
- by hand. These past nine months I've often wished I hadn't gotten that
- flash of inspiration. This program has been one of the most frustrating
- projects I've undertaken, and it wasn't really that difficult a program!
- However! I think this may be the last time I'll have to upload the
- program without having made MAJOR revisions to it.
-
-
- PURPOSE: Simply stated, the purpose of this program is to create
- ASSIGN.SYS files by simply pointing and clicking, an activity
- we ST users have become proficient at.
-
- HARDWARE: Atari 520 or 1040 ST with 1 or 2 single or double sided floppy
- drives, and/or a hard drive, monochrome or color monitor.
-
- CAVEATS: This program has been tested on many different Atari ST
- configurations - excluding the MAGA ST. Only minimal testing
- with a hardrive has been done. Multiple NESTED subdirectories
- might give the program trouble. I've tested and tested in this
- area, each time cutting out bugs, but I will not guarantee more
- than THREE levels of nested subdirectories.
-
- DISCLAIMER: Given the legal climate (I agree with Shakespeare in his
- references to lawyers) I now state that I make no claims or
- warranty concerning this manual, the program, and/or its
- usability. Use this program only if you are willing to
- assume all risk and liability.
-
- - and damn those lily livered computer owners who make
- this disclaimer necessary!
-
- USE: There are essentially three steps to using this program:
- 1) read the font disk
- 2) select the fonts you wish to use
- choose for just one resolution or all three
- 3) write the ASSIGN.SYS file to your disk
-
- HELP: On board help is available at all times.
-
- SUPPORT: It is my intention to support this program for some time to
- come. I use it with DEGAS ELITE on a regular basis so I'll
- continue to use this program and fix it as needed. If you have
- ideas or suggestions, let me know. It was only through you
- kind people that I found that the GFA compiler I was using was
- an old version and causing at least some of my problems.
